First Woman Aircraft Engineer in BSF Air Wing
▪ Officer Bhavana Chaudhary has been appointed as the first woman aircraft engineer in the 50- year history of the Border Security Force (BSF) Air Wing.
▪ She also participated in rescue flight operations during the recent floods in Punjab and other states.
Border Security Force (BSF)
▪ It is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) of India, established in December 1965.
▪ It was created after the 1965 war with the objective of securing India’s borders.
▪ It is the only CAPF that has its own Water Wing, Air Wing, and other support units.
▪ The Headquarters of the BSF is located in New Delhi.
▪ It functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
▪ The BSF is responsible for guarding and maintaining security along a 6,386.36 km stretch of the India– Pakistan and India–Bangladesh borders.
