Bathukamma festival
- Bathukamma is a nine-day floral festival celebrated by the women of Telangana to pay tributes to Mother Nature and celebrate the intrinsic bond between earth, water, and humankind. It marks the start of the winter season.
- Observed according to the Satavahana calendar, the festival begins on Bhadrapada Purnima (Mahalaya Amavasya/Pitru Amavasya) and concludes on Durgashtami, typically falling in September or October.
- Features folk songs, rhythmic clapping, and dance celebrating Telangana’s cultural identity.
- This year, Telangana set a Guinness World Record with a 63-foot-tall Bathukamma crafted with 13 tonnes of flowers.
