Sachin Tendulkar to be EC’s national icon for three years
- Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar will become a “national icon” of the Election
Commission (EC) and spread awareness of the need for greater voter participation in the
electoral process.
- EC will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of three years with Tendulkar in
New Delhi.

T.N. announces aid for families of non-resident Tamils
- The Non-Resident Tamils’ Welfare Board will issue implementation guidelines with regard aid for families of non-resident Tamils in cases of deaths abroad.
- Benefits
- Financial assistance of ₹12,000 for educational expenses of the deceased’s son/daughter.
- Financial assistance of ₹20,000, for wedding expenses of the deceased’s son/daughter.

- Applicants should be registered with the Board, in order to be able to avail of these benefits.
