Dengue
- Background: Chennai, January 3, 2025 – Tamil Nadu has topped the list as the state with the highest number of dengue fever cases in the country. According to statistics released by the Union Health Ministry, 20,866 people have been affected by dengue in Tamil Nadu. The increase in Aedes aegypti mosquitoes has been cited as the reason for this.
About Dengue
- Dengue is a viral disease that is spread by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
- It has four different serotypes – DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3 and DEN-4.
- In India, National Dengue Day is observed on May 16.

- NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft collected samples from asteroid Bennu in 2020 and returned them to Earth in September 2023.
