ISRO successfully launched its 100th rocket
▪ ISRO successfully launched its 100th rocket, the GSLV-F15, carrying the NVS-02 satellite from Sriharikota
▪ It is part of ISRO’s plan to develop the IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System) to support India’s transportation and defense needs
▪ This satellite weighs 2,250 kilograms and has a lifespan of 10 years
▪ The satellite is placed into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) with an indigenous cryogenic stage
▪ NVS-02 is part of India’s Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system, enhancing positioning services
▪ The first launch from Sriharikota by ISRO was on August 10, 1979.
▪ This mission was the experimental flight of the Satellite Launch Vehicle-3 (SLV-3 E10)
▪ The goal was to place the Rohini Technology Payload into orbit
▪ Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, was the Director of this mission
▪ In 2017 PSLV-C37/Cartosat-2 series has launched 104 satellites in a single flight
▪ ISRO aims to accelerate future launches with new infrastructure, including a third launchpad and a second spaceport in Tamil Nadu
