Important Days International Tiger Day – July 29 It is observed on July 29 every year to raise awareness about the endangered tiger species. The day was first observed in 2010 at Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia. In India, tigers are protected under Schedule 1 of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. Project Tiger is a tiger conservation programme launched on April 1, 1973 by the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Awards & Honours Asian Chess Excellence Awards 2023 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin conferred with Man of the Year for his invaluable involvement for the successful hosting of 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad at Mahabalipuram. For the outstanding performance of winning Gold medal on Board number one in the Olympiad, Grandmaster D Gukesh bagged the Player of the Year award.
