CM launches housing scheme for construction workers Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a housing scheme for construction workers, who are registered members of the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers’ Welfare Board. In the first phase, over 100 beneficiaries are to be covered under the scheme, which aims at benefiting over 10,000 construction workers annually at a cost of ₹400 crore. The Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board was constituted to extend all possible assistance for the education of the children of the members, marriage and other welfare schemes, including the construction of houses. Between May 2021 and October 22, welfare assistance to the tune of Rs 322 crores was provided to over 4 lakh beneficiaries. Besides, more than 771 lakh workers enrolled during this period. Healthcare Conference 2022 TN CM MK Stalin inaugurated the Healthcare Conference 2022 in Omandurar Multi-Speciality Hospital in Chennai. He stated that the reasons for institutes’ and districts’ poor performance will be ascertained and steps will be taken to improve the situation. The government plans to provide quality medical care in rural areas, and urged deans of medical college hospitals, deputy directors of health services, joint directors of health services, and other health officials to improve healthcare services. TN aims to reduce communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases, and improve mental health and accident and trauma care in line with Sustainable Development Goals. The Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Department has ranked State-run healthcare institutions, and rated districts based on 17 criteria including Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), and out-patient treatment. This is the first time the State has ranked primary healthcare centres (PHCs), healthcare sub-centers, district headquarters hospitals, and medical college hospitals.
