DRDO launches new bio suit for doctors

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) recently developed a bio suit for the doctors and Top 5 health care professionals who are involved in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The bio suit is developed with seam sealing glue and will help protect the doctors from the deadly virus. In order to develop this bio suit, DRDO scientists came up with a specific type of fabric coating.

The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is developing Pranash, a new 200Km strike range ballistic missile which will be the advanced version of Prahaar, with the strike range of 150Km. Pranash is a single stage solid propellant surface-to-surface missile. About Prahaar: Prahaar is a short range Ballistic missile having a strike range of 150 Km and it can carry the nuclear warheads up to 200Kg. It is a solid propellant surface to surface missile which can travel at the speed of Mach 2.

I-Stem Portal; DRDO Science Expo launched at the Indian Science congress

PM Modi inaugurated the 107thIndian Science  Congress in Bengaluru. He launched the I-Stem portal at the inaugural function. Also, the Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) has installed more than 150 exhibits at the congress. I-STEM Portal I-STEM is Indian Science, Technology Engineering  Facilities Map. The portal will act as a gateway for the researchers and users to locate facilities that are required for their research and development work. Also, after locating the facility, the researcher can make an online reservation in order to use the facility. With this, the start-ups can leverage public and private investments and come up with successful services and products. Initially, similar facility was operating at IISc Bengaluru and IIT Bombay. The I-STEM portal is a replica of these facilities. The facility at IISc Bengaluru was called the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE).

5 DRDO Young Scientist Labs launched

Five new defencelaboratories led by under-35 directors and young military scientists were formally launched on Thursday to drive the country’s war technologies of the future under the Defence Research & Development Organisation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day visit to the State, dedicated to the nation the DYSLs or DRDO Young Scientists Laboratories that will operate from five cities across the country. The labs operating in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad will each pursue a key technology necessary for developing the nation’s next generation of defence systems.

DRDO tests QRSAM (missile) successfully

The Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) test fired the Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) successfully. The test was conducted at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, Odisha. QRSAM The QRSAM is a missile developed by DRDO along with Bharat Electronics Limited for the Indian army. In 2007, the proposal of QRSAM was launched as a replacement for Osa-AK and Kvadrat missile systems. The first testing of QRSAM was conducted in 2017. Previously, the QRSAM missile testing was conducted in August 2019.

Pinaka missile successfully test fired by DRDO

The Pinaka missile was successfully test fired from Odisha coast from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur. Highlights The Pinaka missile is a modified version of Pinaka Mk-II rocket. The rocket was added with integrated navigation, control and guidance system in order to improve the end accuracy. The missile navigation will be aided by the IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System). The flight of the missile was tracked by several tracking systems namely radars, telemetry, Electro-Optical Targeting System. The systems confirmed high performance of the missile. Previously, Pinaka was test fired at Pokhran, Rajasthan in March 2019. Pinaka missile The Pinaka is an artillery missile. It is capable of striking an enemy territory till 75 km of range with high precision. Pinaka was used for the first time in Kargil war.
