The Union government has decided torename the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), a think tank, the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses. Parrikar was the Defence Minister from November 9, 2014, to March 14, 2017 and initiated several reforms in the Ministry. The IDSA, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Defence, was established in New Delhi in 1965. It is dedicated to objective research and policyrelevant studies on all aspects of defence and security.
