Jan Vishwas  Act Context : The Central Government has directed the southern states to fast-track the implementation of reforms introduced under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, through the Jan Vishwas reforms.  The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act mandates the decriminalization of offenses and simplifies regulatory compliance across 79 laws and 784 rules. This reform aims to boost the 'Ease of Doing Business' by significantly reducing the regulatory and compliance burden on traders and business enterprises.  Its primary goal is to support honest businesses. At the same time, it ensures that strict action continues to be taken against fraud, violations, and malpractice. State governments have been directed to ensure the swift issuance of registrations and licenses without any delay or procedural hurdles once the necessary documents are submitted.
