Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi addressed his countrymen and announced the extension of lockdown until 3rdof May 2020. This measure has been taken by the Government of India in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the nation. The lockdown was initially implemented in India from 25thMarch 2020 and was scheduled to end on 14thApril 2020.

Government set up 11 different empowered groups: Lockdown
The government has set up 11 different empoweredgroups under Disaster Management Act, 2005 to suggest measures to improve health, restore the economy, & ease the suffering of people after a 21-day lockdown which is imposed for the control of the COVID-19 outbreak. The following are the 11 different empowered groups & their heads (9 are headed by Secretary level officers, 1 by NITI Aayog member, and 1 by NITI Aayog CEO). About Disaster Management Act, 2005: It was established by Government of India on 23rdDecember, 2005 for efficient managementof disasters and related or incidental matters which extends to the whole of India.National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was formally constituted on September 27, 2006 as per the act.
NGMA launches virtual tour of permanent collection amid Lockdown
Iconic paintings by Amrita Sher-Gil, M.F. Husain, Jamini Roy and Raja Ravi Verma were among the artworks on display in a virtual tour by the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) as it commemorated its 66th foundation day amid the COVID-19 lockdown. The virtual tour of the NGMA’s permanent collection was launched on its website ngmaindia.gov.in on the foundation day.
