It was on February 26, 2012, the government announced that December 22 will be observed as NMD The year 2012 was declared as National Mathematics Year. About Srinivasa Ramanujan Born - 22nd December 1887 in Erode. He studied mathematics at Cambridge University and was chosen as a fellow at the prestigious Royal Society of London, United Kingdom (UK) in 1918. Second Indian to receive Royal Society Fellowship after Ardaseer Cursetjee in 1841. First Indian to be elected as a Fellow of Trinity College. His biography “The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius Ramanujan” was authored by Robert Kanigel and published in 1991. The biopic “The Man Who Knew Infinity” (2015) is based on his life. He passed away on April 26, 1920 in Madras at the age of 32. National Farmers’ Day, or Kisan Diwas The day is celebrated on 23 December every year to celebrate the life and achievements of the farmers and to highlight their efforts and importance to the country. The day also marks the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh. He was the fifth Prime Minister of India (July 28, 1979 to January 14, 1980) and is known for his contributions to empowering Indian farmers.
