Important Days National Statistics Day ▪ National Statistics Day is an annual event celebrated in India in June 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis. ▪ Theme 2024 : “Use of data for decision making.“ ▪ Mahalanobis is called as the Father of Indian statistics. ▪ Mahalanobis is one of the members of India’s first planning commission. ▪ He played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in 1931. Note ▪ World Statistics Day is observed on October 20.
