Appointments Pro Term Speaker ▪ Bhartruhari Mahtab was apponted as the pro term Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha by the President Droupadi Murmu. ▪ The pro-tem Speaker’s primary duty is administering oaths to new MPs. Note ▪ The appointment was made under Article 95(1) of the Constitution to perform the duties of Speaker till election of the Speaker. ▪ Pro Term Speaker is not mentioned in the Constitution of India.
