Tamil Nadu in SDG India Index 2023-24 ▪ According to the latest SDG India Index 2023-24 Tamil Nadu took the third spot with a composite score of 78, surpassing the national average of 71. ▪ It was released by the NITI Aayog. ▪ It measures and tracks national progress of all States and Union Territories (UTs) on 70 targets and 113 indicators. ▪ Scores range between 0–100. ▪ States are divided into four categories under the Index: Achiever (100), Front runners (65-99), Performers (50-64), and Aspirants (0-49). Tamil Nadu’s Performance ▪ It also retained its position as a front runner. ▪ Tamil Nadu is a ‘front runner’ in 13 SDGs in the latest report. ▪ Achiever category in Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG – 7) ▪ Performer category in Gender Equality (SDG – 5) and Life Below Water (SDG – 14).
