Train Accident in West Bengal ▪ A Goods Train rammed in to the rear of the Kanchanjunga Express passenger train at Rangapani in West Bengal. ▪ The Kavach train protection system was not installed for the region’s rail network. About Kavach System ▪ It is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system. ▪ It was developed by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) under Indian Railway (IR). ▪ It controls the speed of the train by an automatic application of brakes in case the loco pilot fails to do so. National Commission for Women (NCW) ▪ National Commission for Women (NCW) receives over 12,600 complaints in 2024. ▪ The highest number of complaints received by the National Commission for Women (NCW) so far this year has been from Uttar Pradesh (6,492) followed by Delhi (1,119) and then Maharashtra (764) ▪ Tamil Nadu received 304 complaints in 2024. ▪ The highest number of complaints were received in the “right to dignity” category that involves harassment other than domestic violence. ▪ This was followed by complaints of domestic violence.
