Freedom fighter and Kannada Rajyotsava awardee Pandit Sudhakar Chaturvedi passed away at his residence. He was said to be 122 year old at the time of his demise. Chaturvedi had a long association with Arya Samaj During his gurukula days, he was inspired by works of Swami Sharaddananda and later Joined the news daily Vijay, started by Sharaddananda to support the freedom struggle soon after World War 1. Chaturvedi's stint as a reporter with the newspaper took him to the Jallianwala Bagh in Amristar on April 13, 1919 where he is said to have witnessed the massacre. He entered the Indian freedom struggle and was an ardent supporter of Mahatma Gandhi.
