- Hyundai Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to establish its first Indian shipyard in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin).
- Tamil Nadu attracted ₹11.38 lakh crore in committed investments over the past four years, creating 34 lakh jobs.
- Earlier investor conferences in Thoothukudi, Hosur, and Coimbatore secured nearly ₹1 lakh crore in assured investment.

- Madurai edition is the fourthN. Rising Summit (following Thoothukudi and Hosur, Coimbatore), reinforcing the government’s commitment to shifting the spotlight away from the capital city of Chennai.
- The summit aims to attract investments to tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
- Goal: Promote balanced and inclusive industrial growth across Tamil Nadu.
Social Justice Hostels
- Context: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister inaugurated two new social justice hostels for women college students.
About Social Justice Hostels
- All government-run hostels in Tamil Nadu were renamed ‘Samooga Needhi Viduthigal’ (Social Justice Hostels).
- This aims to remove the caste and religious labels and create equality among the students.
- The decision follows the suggestions from a committee led by retired judge K. Chandru to reduce caste differences in schools and colleges.
- Tamil Nadu has 2,740+ government hostels accommodating 179,000+ students.
Village Knowledge Centres (VKCs)
- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister virtually inaugurated Village Knowledge Centres (VKCs) in remote hamlets of Vellore, Ranipet, and Tirupattur
- The inauguration took place on B.R. Ambedkar’s death anniversary (December 6).
- The centres will be maintained by Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Corporation (TADCO).
- VKCs aim to provide skill training, digital literacy, and community-based learning, especially for Adi Dravidar youth.
- The centres also include facilities for conducting free marriages.
- VKCs were established in villages such as Vandathangal (Katpadi), Sattur (Ranipet), Ranga Samuthiram (Gudiyatham), Kullacheri, and Madapalli (Tirupattur).
- The centres are funded under the NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (NABARD XXX) scheme.
