High speed passenger ferry service inaugurated
- The high speed passenger ferry service between Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu and Kankesanthurai in Sri Lanka’s Northern Province resumed on October 10 after a gap of nearly four decades.
- The High-Speed Craft (HSC) Cheriyapani is owned by the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI).
- The IAF unveiled its new Ensign to mark the 91st anniversary.

- Nagapattinam is a non major port located on the shores of the Bay of Bengal at the estuary of the River Kaduvaiyar, which flows south of the town between Akkaraipettai and Keechankuppam villages.

State’s total revenue receipts increase

- As per the provisional figures from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), Tamil Nadu’s total revenue receipts increased marginally to ₹92,967.33 crore in 202324 (till August) from ₹91,812.08 crore in the same period in 2022-23.
- The total revenue receipts was projected to be ₹2,70,515.23 crore in the State Budget for
2023-24 and the State have reached 34.37% of the target so far.
- The State’s revenue expenditure stood at ₹1,10,582.31 crore in 2023-24 (till August).
- The fiscal deficit stood at ₹33,142.75 crore till August in 2023-24.

- Tamil Nadu plans to borrow ₹18,000 crore in the third quarter (October – December) of 202324, as per the Indicative Calendar of Market borrowings by State Governments released by the Reserve Bank of India.
