Vandalur zoo gets two Himalayan black bears from Jammu
- The Arignar Anna Zoological Park (AAZP), Vandalur received a pair of Himalayan black bears from the Jambu Zoo, Jammu and Kashmir, through an animal exchange programme.
TN Health Department launches leprosy drive across State
- The Tamil Nadu Health Department has launched a month long initiative to raise public awareness of the cardinal signs of the leprosy disease.
- It plans to reach out to schools, colleges, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) workers, self help group (SHG) members, voluntary or ganisations, and government offices.
- All these steps are taken with the aim to eliminate leprosy by 2025
Women in Chennai face sexual harassment in public spaces: study
- A study conducted by the Gender and Policy Lab of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has revealed that about 16% of women were sexually harassed (verbal, physical, visual) in public places over the last three months in Chennai city.
- Chennai Mayor R. Priya released the annual report (2022-2023) of the Gender and Policy Lab of the Greater Chennai Corporation.
Tamil Nadu’s overall immunisation coverage has crossed 95%
- According to the Directorate of Public Health (DPH) and Preventive Medicine every year, 9.15 lakh children and 10 lakh pregnant women are covered under the Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP), and 3.2 crore vaccines worth nearly ₹10 crore are provided in the State.

- Under the UIP, launched in 1985, 11 vaccines were administered to children and pregnant women against 12 vaccine preventable diseases.
