Muttamizh Peravai Golden Jubilee Year
▪ The 50th year golden jubilee celebration of Muttamizh Peravai, which was inaugurated by the late former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, was held at Raja Annamalai Puram in Chennai with a music festival and awards ceremony.
▪ Actor Sathyaraj received the “Kalaignar Award”, D.K.S. Meenakshi Sundaram of Tiruppamuram received the “Rajaratna Award”, poet Andal Priyadarshini received the “Iyal Selvam Award”, Dr. Gayatri Girish received the “Isai Selvam Award”, D.S. Umasankar of Thirukadaiyur received the
“Nadaswara Selvam Award”, Swami Malai C. Gurunathan received the “Thavil Selvam Award”, Dr. T. Somasundaram received the “Gramiya Kalai Selvam Award”, and Parvathi Ravi Kandasala received the “Nattiya Selvam Award”.
▪ The Chief Minister released the golden jubilee year souvenir book titled “Life History of Thiruvavatuthurai T.N. Rajarathinam” written by author Thumilan.
