Wind and Solar Power Installation Capacity in 2023-24
▪ In 2023-24, Tamil Nadu’s wind power installation capacity increased to 9,015 megawatts, and solar power installation capacity increased to 1,261 megawatts.
▪ Southern districts like Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Theni, and Kanyakumari receive longer hours of sunlight, making them suitable environments for setting up wind and solar power plants.
▪ From 2019-20 to 2022-23, installation capacity has increased across several sectors.
▪ Wind power installation capacity has increased from 55 megawatts to 124 megawatts, and rooftop solar capacity has increased from 44 megawatts to 101 megawatts.
