Governor Approves Two Bills Including Appointment of Special Officers for Local Bodies
- A legislative bill regarding taxation of lands containing minerals was passed in the assembly last December.
- Through this amendment act, taxes will be imposed on 13 types of major minerals (lignite, limestone, magnesite, lead) and 17 types of minor minerals (gravel, sand, stone, river sand).
- Tax rates have been fixed at Rs. 40 to Rs. 7,000 per ton for major minerals, and Rs. 40 to Rs. 420 per ton for minor minerals.
