Medical Testing Quality Assurance Laboratory
▪ The Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare inaugurated a specialized laboratory
established for quality assurance of public health sector laboratories and the tests conducted in
them.
▪ A quality assurance laboratory has been created to conduct quality assurance tests for all
laboratories operating under the Tamil Nadu Medical Department.
▪ In the first phase, primary health center laboratories in Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur districts
will be quality assured to obtain international quality certification.
▪ From next year, this program will be expanded across the entire state.
▪ This laboratory will also conduct quality testing at very low cost for government and private
laboratories operating in other states.
▪ Additionally, memoranda of understanding have been made with voluntary organizations for:
✓ Early detection of infectious diseases caused by climate change
✓ Studying microorganisms in wastewater to predict disease spread
✓ Prevention measures for dengue, malaria, and chikungunya
▪ An agreement has also been made with DON SAM organization under the Tamil Nadu
Industrial Investment Corporation to provide safe drinking water by detecting chlorine levels
in water using artificial intelligence.
‘TN SPARK’ New Program for Classes 6-9 Students
▪ In line with emerging science and technology, a curriculum has been prepared and teacher training
will be provided to teach students computer-based basic science, artificial intelligence
capabilities, and technological science under the name “Tamil Nadu School Programme for
Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Knowledge of Online Tools”.
▪ Through this program, curriculum and textbooks have been developed based on four core
themes
✓ Basic computer science education
✓ Online platform tools
✓ Coding
✓ AI
▪ At the ceremony, the Deputy Chief Minister released books prepared under the THIRAN
(Targeted Help for Improving Remediation & Academic Nurturing) movement and TN
SPARK curriculum books.
Khelo India Centers
▪ Tamil Nadu has 38 Khelo India Centers across 37 districts.
▪ KICs are district-level sports training centers established under the Khelo India scheme.
▪ They aim to provide sports training and coaching to children and youth.
