Nanguneri Incident
▪ The one-man committee headed by retired Madras High Court judge K. Chandru has submitted its recommendations to the Tamil Nadu Government.
▪ The committee recommended that the Tamil Nadu government should prohibit the students in schools from wearing coloured wrist-bands, rings, or forehead marks that may indicate their caste.
▪ It also recommended the removal of caste appellations in the names of schools.
Note
▪ The committee was constituted in the wake of an incident in Nanguneri in Tirunelveli district
in August 2023.
Archaeological Excavations
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin virtually launched archaeological excavations in eight locations across Tamil Nadu.
▪ The Chief Minister also released the findings of the Perumbalai excavations and a report on Tamil Nadu Inscriptions Volume XXVIII.
