Maragatha Pooncholai Initiative
▪ The Tamil Nadu government has initiated the establishment of ‘Maragatha Pooncholai’ in 100 villages across the State
▪ Recently the Tamil Nadu Forest Department has created ‘Maragatha Pooncholai’ in five villages in Villupuram and Kallakurichi districts.
▪ Objective – To increase green cover and support the rural livelihood of local residents by community driven management of natural resources.
SDAT’s new logo
▪ The Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin, unveiled the new logo of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) during the ‘Kalaignar Sports Kit’ initiative event held at Tiruppur.
Note
▪ SDAT is the official sports organ of Tamil Nadu which aims to promote sports and physical fitness throughout the State.
▪ Under ‘Kalaignar Sports Kit’ initiative, the sports equipment will be distributed in 12,000 village panchayats to mark former Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi’s birth centenary.
