  • The grant would be released as a first instalment to the State government under the National Disaster Mitigation
  • The grant has been sanctioned for Five major projects which include
  • To improve some of the surplus channels linked to small water bodies
  • To construct new storm-water drains to bridge gaps in the existing network
  • To create sponge parks
  • To rejuvenate eight water bodies
  • To install Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for the automation of reservoirs’

Tamil Pudhalvan scheme

  • Chief Minister K. Stalin announced that the Tamil Pudhalvan scheme will be launched in Coimbatore on August 9.

  • Objective – To promote higher education among boy students from economically disadvantaged
  • Benefit – 1,000 a month in financial assistance would be provided to students pursuing higher education after completing Classes VI to XII in Government and Government aided schools.
