‘Smile programme’ launched for dental check-up of govt school students.
- Health minister Ma Subramanian and Minister of School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi inaugurated Smile- School Children’s Dental Care Programme at Nandanam Government Model School.
- A mobile dental clinic was also set up at the school to conduct a dental check-up of the students and provide required treatment.
- The mobile clinic will also promote the “No Tobacco” campaign and educational materials were also given to the students.
TAMILNADU GOVERNMENT TO TABLE FRESH BILL AGAINST ONLINE GAMBLING
- The Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Bill, adopted by the Assembly last year, a Cabinet meeting on Thursday decided to table a second Bill, reiterating the government’s decision to impose the ban.
TAMILNADU M-SAND POLICY
- The Tamil Nadu M-sand Policy, 2023, which was released by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin aimed at standardising the Procedure for grant of approval for manufacturing units and preventing damage to the river ecosystem by ‚rationalising the use of river sand in a conserved manner‛.
- The Policy, drafted by the Department of Geology and Mining.
- The Policy will promote zero waste mining/quarrying and recycling of the coarse and fine aggregates in the construction and demolition waste of buildings/concrete structures and quarry waste. The Policy specifies the characteristics of sources that can be used for M-sand/crushed sand and the Procedure for the establishment of units.
- A single window portal will be developed and maintained by the Department of Geology and Mining for the registration of M-sand/crushed sand units.
