TN Organic Farming Policy 2023
- It is aimed at conserving and protecting soil health, agro-ecology and biodiversity, and providing safe, healthy and environment-friendly food
- It seeks to provide safe, healthy and environment-friendly food, besides creating awareness of the importance of organic farming and extending organic farming practices.
- It is aimed at strengthening certification systems and residue-testing protocols to promote ‘on farm’ or locally produced inputs such as farmyard manure and vermi-compost. Creating market advisories and certification advisories, promoting exports and increasing the revenue of farmers and making organic farming part of education and re-search are among the other objectives. Tamil Nadu stands 14th nationwide under organic farming.
- A single-window system will be implemented to simplify the certification procedure.
- A State gene/germplasm bank will be opened to preserve the traditional cultivar seeds of all crops. The policy says the residues of agro-chemicals were found to be the source of many health issues worldwide and pesticide residues enter the food chain, causing many health hazards to humans and animals.”

ICT Academy signs two MoUs at 50th edition of Bridge ‘23
The first was signed with TAHDCO to train 6,000 SC/ST unemployed youth in job-oriented skills;
The second would help to prepare the talents of Tamil Nadu for industry 4.0 technologies

- The first MoU was signed with Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation Ltd. (TAHDCO) to train 6,000 SC/ST unemployed youths in job-oriented skills with relevance to the Information technology and IT enabled services, banking, financial services and insurance, retail and telecom.
- The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Center signed an MoU to prepare the talents of Tamil Nadu for industry 4.0 technologies, including automation and mechatronics, motion control, robotics and machine tools. This partnership will benefit around 500 engineering institutions in the State, generating employment for 2.5 lakh youths.

Namakku naame scheme
Corporation asks residents to use remaining Namakku Naame Thittam funds
- In 2021, the government announced that the scheme, originally launched by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, will be implemented in the Greater Chennai Corporation and other urban local bodies in the State, with a provision of Rs.200 crore.
- Civic infrastructure projects such as hospitals, roads, footpaths, parks, classrooms, libraries, toilets, sports, facilities, restoration of waterbodies, street lighting and burial grounds can be implemented under the scheme. School infrastructure development has been the most popular among the projects taken up under the scheme.
- Residents have also installed CCTV cameras in their locality utilising funds under the Namakku Naame Thittam.
