“Uttaramerur inscription”

  • Uttaramerur inscription highlights the antiquity of Indian democracy
  • “India is the oldest democracy in the world, as can be seen from the 1,100 year old Uttaramerur Tamil inscription that talks about the rules of local bodies,”.
  • From this inscription, which is 1,100 to 1,200 years old, one can learn the essence of democracy in the country.
  • This inscription constitutes the constitution of the local grama sabha. The inscription mentions not only the manner in which the Grama Sabha functions, the qualifications of its members and the manner in which they are elected, but also the methods of disqualification of the members were included.

“International Dugong Conservation Centre”

  • Government of Tamil Nadu announced setting up of “International Dugong Conservation Centre” at Manora in Thanjavur at a cost of Rs.15 crores.
  • It is located in Thanjavur district covering the sea area of 448 kilometers.
  • This will enhance the tourism and the safety environment of dugongs in the area.

“Slender Loris conservation centre”

  • “Slender Loris habitation are in forest areas of Karur and Dindigul districts, as well as in some parts of Wester Ghats.
  • Tamil Nadu government has announced India’s first Slender Loris sanctuary to cover 11,806.56 hectares in Karur and Dindigul.
  • “To protect the threatened species, Slender Loris conservation centre will be set at Ayyalur in Dindigul Forest Division at a total cost of Rs. 20 Crore.

“Pallikaranai marshland”

  • A conservation centre will be set up at Pallikaranai marshland, which was recently declared a Ramsar site at a cost of 20 crore.
  • There are 14 Ramsar sites in Tamilnadu.

“Green Tamil Nadu Project”

  • The green school scheme will be implemented in 50 schools at a cost of Rs 10 crore this year.
  • To carry out the necessary eco development works to implement the objective of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Green Tamil Nadu Project, 25 schools have been selected as green schools during 2022-23, In 2023-24 also, the scheme will be implemented in 50 more schools in Tamil Nadu.

“Sign language”

  • The proceedings of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly will be telecast in sign language as well to benefit people who are hearing impaired, Speaker M. Appavu announced.
  • Efforts had been made to record and telecast the proceedings of the Assembly through YouTube in sign language, in compliance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016.
