Foundation stone laid for Southeast Asia’s largest desalination plant
- Foundation stone was laid for the construction of a new desalination plant at Perur at a cost of ₹4,276.44 crore.
- It will have a capacity to treat 400 million litres of seawater per day.
- The plant will be the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia.
- The project will be executed by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) with funding support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
