The Central Government has allocated ₹4,144 crore to Tamil Nadu for the implementation of
the Free and Compulsory Education Scheme.
Right to Education Act
▪ Free and compulsory education for children aged 6–14 years.
▪ Article 21A – Added to the Indian Constitution through the 86th Amendment in 2002.
▪ The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act was enacted in 2009.
▪ Date of implementation: 1st April 2010.
Chief Minister’s Cup State-Level Competitions
▪ The state-level sports competitions for the Chief Minister’s Cup have begun.
▪ They are being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.
▪ Organized by the Department of Youth Welfare and Sports Development.
▪ The aim is to develop and identify sporting talent at the state level.
