Scheme to settle commercial tax dues
- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced Samadhan Scheme to help traders settle their dues, penalty and interest as the commercial tax dues to the State government reaches ₹25,000 crore.
Key Highlights
- Scheme duration – October 16, 2023 and February 15, 2024.
- Different payment options for five categories of traders, depending on the size of their dues.
- Traders whose dues are below ₹50,000 are eligible for a complete waiver.
ISRO’s second spaceport to be set up in T.N.
- The second spaceport of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will come up in about two years at Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu.
- It will be dedicated exclusively for Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs).
- It will be developed and used only by the private sector.
- No ISRO rockets will be launched from this spaceport.
Note
- On the side-lines, the Tamil Nadu government is planning to set up Space Industrial Park and Propellants Park near Thoothukudi.
- Kulasekarapattinam is ideal for launches as there is no land between that place and Antarctica.
