Tangedco launches ‘Go Electric’ awareness campaign
- The Chennai Central distribution circle of Tangedco has launched “Go Electric” awareness campaign to help people to switch over from combustion engines to electric vehicles.
- The campaign has been launched throughout the country by the Union government.
- Tangedco has been appointed as the nodal agency for creating charging infrastructure for electric vehicles by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

- The Ministry of Power launched the “Go Electric” Campaign on 19th February 2021.
- The objective of this campaign is to create awareness among masses about benefits of switching over to Electric Vehicles (EVs), including various initiatives taken by Centre & State Governments to enhance acceptability of Electric Vehicles, and Electrical Cooking.
- This campaign is being implemented through State Nodal Agencies (SNAs) designated by States for coordinating activities related to rolling out Public Charging Infrastructure in States.
San Antonio – Chennai Corporation signs a Pact
- A consultation meeting was held under the leadership of the mayors of San Antonio, Ron Nirenberg and Chennai, Priya Rajan.
- The meeting was held at Ripon House under the Sister City Agreement.
- The two mayors said that as a merger of sister cities, they will work together to improve the creative relations of the people of the two cities and to improve education, health and basic structures, and to further enrich the character, intelligence and economy of the people of the two cities.

- The Chennai-San Antonio Sister City agreement was signed on February 27, 2008, and laid the foundation for significant economic and cultural exchanges in areas such as commerce, health, education, and technology.
Madurai Bench of Madras High Court gets its first woman mace-bearer
- D. Lalitha, has been appointed as the first woman chobdar (mace-bearer) of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. She is the mace-bearer for Justice N. Mala.
- Earlier in June 2022, the Madras High Court had got its first woman mace-bearer, R.N Manjula
- In the High Court, the mace-bearer walks in front of the judges so as to ensure free passage for them as they move from their chambers to the court halls.
