- Armed Forces Veteran’s Day is observed every year on 14thJanuary as a mark of respect and recognition of the services rendered by Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa OBE (Order of the British Empire), the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces who retired on 14 Jan 1953. Observing since 2017, the year 2020 marked day’s fourth edition.
