Amma Youth Sports Scheme launched

The scheme will be implemented in all 12,524 gram panchayats and 528 panchayat unions. The Amma Youth Sports Scheme announced by Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami in the Assembly in July, last year has made strides in Jolarpet, Sholingur, Arni and Cheyyar. The scheme was launched by Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, K.C. Veeramani and Labour Welfare Minister Nilofer Kafeel in Mandalawadi village of the Jolarpet block. List of Sports under Amma Youth Sport Program are Kabaddi, Football, Volleyball, Cricket.

Fourth Armed Forces Veterans’ Day is observed on Jan 14,2020

Armed Forces Veteran’s Day is observed every year on 14thJanuary as a mark of respect and recognition of the services rendered by Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa OBE (Order of the British Empire), the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces who retired on 14 Jan 1953. Observing since 2017, the year 2020 marked day’s fourth edition.

GoI to launch Purvodaya to accelerate Eastern India Development

The Ministry of Steel announced that it will launch “Purvodaya”, a world class steel hub. The hub aims at an  accelerated development programme of eastern states. The Ministry will be joined by CII (Confederation of India Industries) in the implementation of “Purvodaya”. Highlights The initiative aims at developing the eastern states through an integrated steel hub. The steel hub will create 2.5 million jobs in the region. It will create world-class logistics and infrastructure. This will also help in achieving India’ s steel policy target of 300 MT by 2030.
