Breast cancer awareness month – October

  • It is observed every year to spread awareness to educate people about its causes, symptoms, warning signs, diagnosis and treatment.
  • It is called “Pink October”
  • Theme 2023 – ‘Keeping Her in The Picture’

Note

  • According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2020, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer and 6,85,000 deaths globally.

International Day of Older Persons – October 1

  • The day is observed every year to honor and celebrate the elderly, acknowledge their vital role in society, and address the issues that impact their well-being.
  • 2023 Theme – Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations.

  • The day was observed for the first time on 14 December 1990.
