Human Rights Day

  • The day is observed every year on December 10 to honour the day when the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948.
  • It signifies the absolute rights to which all human beings are entitled, irrespective of any race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth or another status.
  • Theme 2022-“Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All” and the call to action is #StandUp4HumanRights

17th Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of ILO

  • The 17th APRM of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) was held in Singapore to discuss national action to deal with the issue of dwindling wages of workers, inflation and unemployment in Asia, Pacific and Arab State.
  • It focuses on actions to enhance job-rich growth that is inclusive and transformative.
  • Meeting concludes with adoption of the Singapore Declaration.
