Annual Status of Education Report (ASER 2022) survey

  • It was released by Pratham, a non-governmental organisation
  • The ASER is a household survey conducted across 616 rural districts covering 6.9 lakh children in the age group 3 to 16
  • Aim: To record their schooling status and assess their basic reading and arithmetic skills

Key Findings:

  • Despite school closures during the pandemic, the overall enrolment figures for the 6 to 14 age group, increased from 97.2% in 2018 to 98.4% in 2022
  • Children’s basic literacy levels with their reading ability compared with numeracy skills is worsening much more sharply and dropping to pre2012 levels

Asia’s 1st Hydrogen Mining Truck

  • Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) signed a deal with Ashok Leyland, India, and Ballard Power, Canada to manufacture a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Trucks (FCET) for mining logistics and transportation purposes.
  • It marks the 1st planned Hydrogen – Powered Mining Truck in Asia

Bharat Pravah-India along its Shores

  • Ministry of Shipping, Waterways, and Ports has launched an initiative “Bharat Pravah-India along its Shores”

Aim: 

    • To highlight the significance and imagery of rivers, ports, and shipping in everyday life through a series of nationwide events
  • To highlight the challenges, policy issues and future goals relating to the maritime sector.
