T.N. approves policy on port development with private participation The Tamil Nadu Cabinet approved the Tamil Nadu State Port Development Policy, 2023 for the development of ports with private participation. The policy aims at encouraging private participation in recycling, shipbuilding and improving ports. The policy will replace the Minor Port Development Policy of Tamil Nadu, 2007. Note Three major ports in Tamil Nadu - Chennai, Ennore and Tuticorin. Intermediate Port – Nagapattinam Minor ports – 17 Coastline of Tamil Nadu – 1,076 km ₹5.60 crore spent on Justice Aruna Jagadeesan Commission of Inquiry A sum of ₹5.60 crore was spent on the Justice Aruna Jagadeesan Commission of Inquiry according to a response to queries filed under the Right to Information Act 2005. The commission was formed by the Tamil Nadu government to probe the police firing at the anti-Sterlite protesters in 2018 in Thoothukudi, which killed 13 persons.
