Bharat NCAP: India to get its own car crash testing programme The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) is an indigenous car testing programme where the car manufacturers can volunteer to get their models tested under an and get a star rating indicating their safety in a crash. Bharat NCAP is modelled on the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP). A rating between one to five stars will be assigned to a vehicle after an evaluation of three parameters. Adult occupant protection Child occupant protection Safety assist technologies present in the car. The test results will be approved by the Bharat NCAP Standing Committee and published on its website. The Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT) will issue a certificate.
