Natural Disasters – Safeguard Measures Cyclone Tej in Arabian Sea The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that a low-pressure area has been developed over Arabian Sea which later developed into a depression and intensified into a cyclonic storm. It was named by India as 'Tej', based on the formula followed for naming cyclones in the Indian Ocean Region. It was derived from the sanskrit word 'Tej' meaning light Tej is the second Cyclonic Storm formed in Arabian Sea after cyclone Biparjoy.
