The first brick wall has been discovered in the sixth phase of excavations near Thirupuvanam in Sivagangai district. The Central Archeology Department undertook an excavation in 2015. Followed by excavations in stages 2 and 3. Through three excavations, 7,818 archaeological finds were found. The excavation work was undertaken by the Archaeological Department of Tamil Nadu on the 4th stage. Of these, 5,820 artefacts were found.
