Computer Tamil Award
- Chief Minister’s Computer Tamil Award is an award given by the Tamil Development Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu
- This award is given to those who develop excellent Tamil software for the development of computer Tamil so that the Tamil language can spread all over the world through computers.
Purpose
- Information technology is growing day by day. Due to this, the use of computers is also increasing. Tamils live widely all over the world. Therefore, there is a need to develop software in Tamil to spread the Tamil language through computers.

Unmanned Autonomous Intelligent Vehicle Launched
- The National Institute of Ocean Resources Technology, Pallikaranai, has launched an unmanned autonomous intelligent vehicle and a deep-sea exploration device for deep-sea exploration.
- These new devices have been launched on the occasion of the 32nd foundation day of this institute, which operates under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
- A state-of-the-art research infrastructure has been developed at the seafront facility in Bamaji village, Andhra Pradesh. An innovative bridge called ‘Dressal’ has been constructed at the seafront to make it easy for vehicles to cross.
- A team led by scientist Vedhachalam has designed a deep-sea device called ‘Matshaya 6000’. This device will go into the sea up to 6,000 meters deep and conduct research.
- Similarly, a team led by scientist Balanaga Jyothi has developed an ‘Intelligence Manas 1.1’ car. This is an unmanned autonomous vehicle. It will go into the deepest part of the sea where humans cannot go, conduct research and collect data.
National Institute of Ocean Resources Technology
- The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) was established in November 1993 as an autonomous association under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
- NIOT is governed by a Board of Directors and the Director is the Chairman of the Institute.
- The main objective of setting up NIOT under the Ministry of Earth Sciences is to develop reliable indigenous technologies to address various engineering problems associated with harvesting of living and non-living resources in the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), which covers two-thirds of India’s land area.
Fish fossil discovery
- In Pattinamarudur, Thoothukudi district, history enthusiasts recently discovered fish fossils, oyster fossils, and natural resins that have reached a crystalline state, dating back thousands of years.
- In the archaeological site of Pattinamarudur village in Ottapidaram taluk, Thoothukudi district, pottery fragments, building fragments dating back thousands of years, and marine fossils have been found.
