- Tamil Nadu recognized for climate innovation: first state to establish a State Green Climate Fund and the Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company, and for treating heat waves as state-specific disasters.
Home Delivery of Cervical Cancer Testing Kits
- Home-based cervical cancer screening kits will be delivered by health workers as many women hesitate to visit hospitals for diagnosis.
- The National Health Commission will distribute kits to 25,000 women under 35 in Dharmapuri as a pilot project.
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the primary cause of cervical cancer.
- If undetected, cervical cancer can spread from the cervix to lungs, liver, bladder, and rectum.
- As per Adyar Cancer Institute, cervical cancer is most prevalent in Dharmapuri and Perambalur in Tamil Nadu.
- Incidence rates: Ariyalur – 29.9 per lakh, Chennai – 13 per lakh, Tamil Nadu overall – 14 per lakh.
International Hockey Stadium & Junior Men’s World Cup
- The International Hockey Stadium at MGR Stadium, Madurai will be inaugurated on 22.11.2025 by the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
- The 14th Junior Men’s World Cup Hockey Tournament will take place in Chennai and Madurai.
- The tournament is scheduled from November 28 to December 10.
- It is jointly organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), Hockey India, and the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority.
Record Foodgrain Production (2024–25)
- The production of food grains including paddy, wheat, soybeans and groundnuts has reached a record high of 357.32 million tonnes in 2024-25.
- This is 7.65 percent more than the previous food grain production of 332.29 million tonnes in 2023-24.
- Paddy production in the 2024-25 Kharif season has reached a record high of 122.77 million tonnes.
- Soybean output reached 15.26 million tonnes, and groundnut production stood at 11.9 million tonnes, both at new highs.
