Army Signs Deal for Long-Range Rocket Launchers
- The Indian Army has signed a ₹293-crore contract with private defence firm NIBE Ltd in collaboration with Israel, for the supply of an advanced long-range rocket launcher system with strike capabilities of 150 km and 300 km.
- The system is being developed in collaboration with Israeli defence major Elbit Systems.
- The system, Suryastra, is India’s first Made in India universal multi-calibre rocket launcher.
- It capable of executing precision surface-to-surface strikes at ranges up to 300 km.
Samudra Pratap
- Defence Minister commission the Indian Coast Guard ship Samudra Pratap in Goa.
- The vessel is equipped with advanced systems to detect oil spills, enabling comprehensive pollution response operations within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
- It is capable of high precision operations, recover pollutants from viscous oil, analyse contaminants, and separate oil from contaminated water.
