Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

- Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (14 April 1891 – 6 December 1956) was a brilliant legal scholar, economist, politician, and social reformer.
- He spearheaded the Mahad Satyagraha in 1927 against social discrimination.
- He participated in all three Round Table Conferences.

- In 1932, he signed the Poona Pact with Gandhi, agreeing to drop the demand for separate electorates for the oppressed classes.
- He served as the Labour Member in the Viceroy’s Executive Council (1942).
- He was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution.
- He described Article 32 of the Constitution as the “Soul and Heart of the Constitution.”
- In 1947, he became the first Law Minister of independent India.
- In 1956, Ambedkar converted to Buddhism along with his followers. The day of his passing is observed as Mahaparinirvan Diwas.
