- Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu presented the Kalaignar Ezhuthukol Award 2024 to T.E.R. Sukumar, Managing Editor of Daily Thanthi.
About Kalaignar Ezhuthukol Award
- In the 2021–22 demand for grants, the Tamil Nadu government announced the ‘Kalaignar Ezhuthukol Award’ to honour journalists contributing to social development and the upliftment of marginalised communities.
- The award includes ₹5 lakh prize money and a certificate of appreciation.
- Awardees:
- 2021 – Senior journalist I. Shanmuganathan
- 2022 – Senior journalist V.N. Saamy
- 2023 – Gopal, Editor of Nakkheeran
- During Kalaignar’s centenary, the CM announced a special ‘Kalaignar Eluthukol Award’ exclusively for women, awarded to Sukita Sarangaraj.
