Kalaignar Ezhuthukol Award Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu presented the Kalaignar Ezhuthukol Award 2024 to T.E.R. Sukumar, Managing Editor of Daily Thanthi. About Kalaignar Ezhuthukol Award In the 2021–22 demand for grants, the Tamil Nadu government announced the ‘Kalaignar Ezhuthukol Award’ to honour journalists contributing to social development and the upliftment of marginalised communities. The award includes ₹5 lakh prize money and a certificate of appreciation. Awardees: 2021 – Senior journalist I. Shanmuganathan 2022 – Senior journalist V.N. Saamy 2023 – Gopal, Editor of Nakkheeran During Kalaignar’s centenary, the CM announced a special ‘Kalaignar Eluthukol Award’ exclusively for women, awarded to Sukita Sarangaraj.
