Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS)
- The Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) is a man-portable air defence missile system (MANPADS), designed to be carried and operated by ground troops.
- The system has been indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) through its Research Centre Imarat.
- It is capable of detecting, engaging, and neutralising fast-moving aerial targets across different distances and altitudes, enhancing short-range air defence effectiveness.
- The missile system is planned for deployment with the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, contributing to India’s multi-layered air defence network.
